LOL Christmas Cookie Card

Okay, I draw illustrations every day and make clip art to give away. Some of my art gets published as cards or posters or even tee shirts and stamps. Here's one that's not my design, but it made me smile! I might just buy some of these for this year's holiday fun. The inside message is really funny, too! Click one of the links to learn more about the artist and/or how to customize this card and buy some for your very own.

September in Vermont

Vermont is a beautiful state year round, but there's just something extra special about late summer and early autumn in the Green Mountains. We just returned from a week up north visiting with DD#2 and her DH, and I can't wait to return.

Norman Rockwell, Girl with Black Eye We visited the usual tourist sites, plus took a side jaunt between Manchester and the southern border, happening upon Arlington and the Norman Rockwell museum and gallery. I couldn't resist buying a copy of this print, because it reminds me of myself in the second grade. On the day before school portraits were scheduled, I got into a tussle with my oldest brother Chris. The resulting photo documented the shiner he laid on me with his foot in our battle the night before. I was wearing braids and a plaid skirt to complement ...

Arlington, Vermont was home to the famed artist and his family for many years; Rockwell used the small town's residents as models in many of his paintings. Do visit the gallery and museum (it's in an old church on historic VT route 7A) to see the collection if you're in the area or make a day trip from the Berkshires in western Massachusetts to God's country.

Hansen Family Chronicles: Happy Father's Day

Hansen Family Chronicles: Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day

This picture evokes so many nostaligic feelings and memories for me.
I learned to read with the Dick, Jane and Sally series of primers in elementary school, and this picture reminds me of myself with my dad in the 1950's. Although he's gone, I still have fond memories of my father and my childhood, and for that I will celebrate Father's Day this Sunday.

I designed a little Father's Day card using this vintage illustration - it's available as a free printable at my web site. Happy Father's Day.

It doesn't matter who my father was;

it matters who I remember he was.

Remembrance - Memorial Day 2007

Buddy Poppy - Memorial Day Flower

In Flanders Fields
By John McCrae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly.
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields,

Flower Power Baby Toy

I've been a crafty person since I was a wee tike, sewing doll clothes, fashions, curtains, slip covers, designing paper dolls and wardrobes, doing wood-working, knitting, embroidering, macrame and drawing or painting at every opportunity.

I made most of my kids' clothes until they were in middle school and for years I made many toys, clothes, decorations and household goodies as gifts.

Since I got into illustration on computer about 10 years ago, and now that I have a much smaller home, I haven't had the opportunity/inspiration to sew as much as I did in the seventies and eighties. Well, that's all changed - I have *grandchildren* so I can have fun with fabric arts again.

Here's my latest soft sculpture project. It's a gift for my new grandson ... a sleepy flower power guy with sturdy grab handles and wonderful floppy legs. It's drool and slobber proof - soft cotton floss and squishy fleece with poly filling.

Sure hope Sawyer likes it. I do.

It's a BOY!

Grandson Sawyer Robert arrived on February 2, 2007 - he most definitely spotted his shadow and the weather has been cold and wintry in the Northeastern US ever since his much-anticipated arrival.

Welcome sweet Baby Boy ... Bella is a Big Sister now.
